From On Locations, we recommend this area of the Catalan coast for your next project. We have a number of very interesting locations to offer in this region. For some inspiration, here is a small sample of what we have in our archive.
Outside the urban area of Sitges, near Castelldefels, you will find one of the most beautiful beaches of the entire Barcelona coast. It stands out for its fishermen’s houses and for the postcard pictures you can get during sunset. Highly recommended, especially for shooting scenes outside of the summer season.
Natural Park very close to the city
This protected natural space is located between the Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedes and Garraf regions, in the southwestern sector of the called Catalan coastal mountain range. It is more than 12,000 hectares large and is characterized by a charming Mediterranean landscape.
This microclimate allows the conservation of idyllic spots that are ideal for filming – whether you are looking for nature or beautiful views of the sea. The desertic roads have often been used to shoot “road trip” campaigns.
Although it belongs to the municipality of Sitges, this marina is located very close to Castelldefels and has an area of 30 hectares, divided between land and sea.
The port has the coveted Blue Flag, in addition to various environmental protection certificates, which make this bit of paradise one of the best preserved spaces in the area. One of its most outstanding spaces is its secluded beach. Without a doubt, this is an excellent location to shoot nautical scenes very close to Barcelona.
Beach with urban landscape
Located in front of one of the most popular residential neighborhoods in the city, this location has about 400 meters of golden sand which is protected by four artificial barriers. It is usually a very busy beach but it blends perfectly with the urban landscape thanks to a beautiful promenade, which serves as a perfect bridge between sand and stone. If you want to shoot scenes for your production here, we recommend you do it outside the tourist season.
Beach with views
Just 2 years ago, the American television channel CNN named this as “one of the best 50 beaches in the world”. This is not surprising, since it is an incomparable space due to its urban beauty and the atmosphere of its beach bars. It is also the meeting point for lovers of water sports and sailing. Always crowded in the high season, it’s an ideal location to shoot before the tourists arrive in May and after they leave in September.
Villa facing the sea
Located on the beachfront – just 50 meters from the San Sebastián beach – the great value of this private location lies in its spectacular views. A Mediterranean postcard in a luxurious villa of more than 600 square meters that offers all the comforts for filming in an urban villa.
Sitges is a town that breathes cinema. Its annual film festival is internationally acclaimed and its old town full of historic houses has served as a film location on many occasions. It is a city full of charming corners, where the strong cultural heritage and its architectural beauty have given rise to many spaces suitable for filming all kinds of audiovisual projects. Some of these spots are the Palau Maricel, the Old Slaughterhouse or Casa Planas.
